WELLBEING & LEARNING SUPPORT

At St Andrew’s International Primary School,

we are proud to be an inclusive school.

We believe every child, regardless of ability or background,

has the right to a high-quality education in a supportive environment.

Our commitment is to recognise and respond to the diverse needs of pupils

so that all children can experience success,

personal growth, and reach their full potential.

Our Areas of Support

We have consolidated our additional learning provisions under a newly established department,

Wellbeing & Learning Support, which offers comprehensive assistance across five key areas:

  • SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities): We provide targeted support and accommodations for pupils with identified learning differences, utilising Individual Development Plans (IDPs) to ensure curriculum access and personal success. This may involve adapted lessons, external assessments, specialist interventions, and, when necessary, liaison with external therapists (e.g., Speech and Language or Occupational Therapy).

  • EFL/ESL (English as a Foreign/Second Language): Focused instruction is delivered to help pupils who are new to English or require additional language development. Our goal is to ensure they quickly gain the necessary academic and social English skills to access the full curriculum and fully participate in school life.

  • Additional Learning: This provision offers short-term, skill-based interventions for any pupil requiring a temporary boost in core academic areas. Support is delivered through small group or one-to-one sessions focusing on closing specific gaps to ensure consistent progress.

  • Gifted & Talented: We challenge and extend our most able and talented pupils by offering enrichment opportunities and differentiated instruction within the classroom. This provision encourages creativity, critical thinking, and advanced achievement, inspiring pupils to reach the highest levels of their potential.

  • Emotional Support & Counselling: Our service promotes pupils’ self-esteem and emotional well-being by providing a safe space for support. This includes individual check-ins, group work, and, when needed, professional counselling to help pupils build resilience and form healthy, respectful relationships.

How We Support Pupils

Some children may need extra help at different points in their school journey. When this is the case, we work closely with parents and teachers to create an Individual Development Plan (IDP).

This plan sets clear goals and outlines the intervention and support strategies needed to support each child’s progress. Support may include:

  • Adapted lessons within the classroom

  • Small group sessions for targeted skills

  • One-to-one support when appropriate

Working Together

We know that children make the best progress when home and school work in partnership. For pupils with more complex needs, we may recommend involving external face-to-face or online assessments, or specialist support such as occupational therapists or speech and language therapists, always in consultation with families.
