WELLBEING & LEARNING SUPPORT

At St Andrew’s International Primary School, we are proud to be an inclusive school.

We believe every child, regardless of ability or background,

deserves a high-quality education in a supportive environment.

Our commitment is to recognise and respond to the diverse needs of pupils,

ensuring all children experience success, personal growth and reach their full potential.

Our Areas of Support

Our Wellbeing & Learning Support department (WB&LS) consolidates our additional learning  provisions, offering comprehensive assistance across five key areas:

  1. SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities): We provide targeted support and accommodations, utilising Individual Development Plans (IDPs) to ensure curriculum access and success. This may involve adapted lessons, specialist interventions and liaison with external therapists.

  2. EFL/ESL (English as a Foreign/Second Language): We deliver focused instruction to help pupils new to English quickly gain the academic and social English skills needed to access the full curriculum and fully participate in school life.

  3. Additional Learning: This is a short-term, skill-based intervention offered through small group or one-to-one sessions to provide a temporary boost and close specific gaps in core academic areas.

  4. Gifted & Talented: We challenge and extend our most able pupils through enrichment opportunities and differentiated instruction. This provision inspires advanced achievement, creativity, and critical thinking.

  5. Emotional Support & Counselling: Our service provides a safe space for support, promoting pupils' self-esteem and emotional well-being. This includes individual check-ins, group work, and professional counselling to help pupils build resilience.

How We Support Pupils

When a child needs extra help, we work closely with parents and teachers to create an Individual Development Plan (IDP). This plan sets clear goals and outlines the necessary support strategies, which may include:

  • Adapted lessons within the classroom

  • Small group sessions for targeted skills

  • One-to-one support when appropriate

We know that children make the best progress when home and school work in partnership. For more complex needs, we will consult with families before recommending external assessments or specialist support, such as occupational or speech and language therapists.
