BOARD OF GOVERNORS

Our Board of Governors is made up of dedicated parents of children at our school. Many of them are highly qualified and skilled people who have a desire to make the education at St. Andrew’s one that measures up to world standards. All Board members are elected by the parent body. The Board’s primary responsibilities are to appoint the Principal and to ensure that the Vision and ethos of the school are maintained so that St. Andrew’s continues to strive towards continual improvement in line with modern education systems. Currently, there is an interim Board of Governors in place.

Prof. Luis Gadama

Chair

Head of Academics in the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences. A research scientist, clinician and a leader with years of experience in formulating policies, successfully leading and implementing both undergraduate and postgraduate training programs in the university.

Mrs Rachel Mijiga

Deputy Chair | Marketing Committee

A result driven, self motivated and resourceful director with a proven track record and ability to develop and strengthen cross functional teams in order to maximise company profitability and efficiency. Experience in leading and growing all sectors of a business in dynamic and progressive environment. Possessing excellent communication skills and able to establish sustainable and profitable relationships with customers, suppliers and stakeholders across the board.

Rachel is the current Chief Executive of Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority. Holds a Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship (MUST). Studied Economics and Business Administration.

Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of IT and corporate roles, giving me a broad understanding of how technology and business can be leveraged to achieve organisational goals. As a result, I provide valuable insights and guidance to the board as it navigates complex issues related to budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic planning.

In addition to my professional experience, I am deeply committed to education and the role that schools play in shaping our communities. I believe that education is the foundation of a healthy, thriving society, and I am passionate about ensuring that all students have access to high-quality educational opportunities. As an IT and corporate executive, I am particularly interested in the ways that technology can be used to support student learning and improve educational outcomes.
